From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.
